So I decided to start the new year off right by posting a Happy New Year post ON NEW YEARS DAY. However, in the true spirit of procrastination I didn't get around to it until today.
I think no year has ever taught me as much as 2013. I've learned, lost and loved in 2013, and all the experiences have made me a better, more understanding person of both myself and others.
Here's a few jewels I picked up along the way in 2013 that might just help someone in 2014.. you're welcome:
Release anything in your life that isn't making you happy.
Whether it be jobs, relationships or friendships if the situation is stressing you out, or making you unhappy, let it go.

Don't let anyone else tell you what's right for you.
Nobody else knows what's best for you but you. You are the one who had to deal with whatever choices you make. Don't stay in any situation because of someone else's opinion of what you should do when they haven't walked a mile in your shoes.

Be open to new things.
In order to get different results you have to try different things. Don't be afraid to step outside that little box you've put yourself in in your mind. Reinvent yourself! You might be surprised at the outcome!

Have Fun!
I'm NOT one who likes to say that "life is too short" cliche, but I will say life is long enough to enjoy yourself if you live it right. You don't want to wake up one day and say man, I should've done this or that. It's so easy to get caught up in the monotony of every day life, work, kids, family that we don't always take the time to just live and let loose a little bit. It makes all the difference.

Make time for YOU
Whether you want to pray, meditate or go to the spa, set aside some time for yourself. Set aside some time each day if possible to be alone. During this time you can shut out the outside noise from the world and clear your mind and recharge. Dealing with family, friends etc on a daily basis can drain your emotional and physical battery. You have to recharge so you can sustain your own happiness and life balance.

Don't be afraid to say NO.
You can't always be there for everyone. Whether you don't have time or you just don't really want to do it. You don't have to. Learn to say no sometimes. I'm not at all saying don't be there for those that need you. I'm saying that if you're just getting off of work and have 3 of your own errands to run then have to go home and cook dinner and one of your friends calls and asks if you can pick up her puppy from the vet because she forgot to do it.. it's okay to say no. If she wanted that puppy bad enough she would have found a way to get it. Dog would just have to stay there. I'm just saying. Nothing against puppies I love puppies.
All that to say make 2014 about Y-O-U. It's okay to be selfish sometimes. Enjoy everything life has to offer. Stress less. Love more. Love puppies.
